Belluga started with a year of closed doors, wasted train tickets, and a harsh reality check.

The concept behind Belluga was born out of a simple frustration: the streetwear market is flooded with mass-produced, flimsy fabric, and generic fits. We wanted to build something heavy, structured, and entirely intentional. But turning that vision into a physical garment turned out to be a relentless, grueling test of resilience.

The Road to the Studio: Wasted Miles & Broken Promises

Our journey began in earnest in January 2025, and for over a year, it felt like an uphill battle against an industry built for mass production.

  • The Tiruppur Dead Ends: Seeking out the absolute best textiles, we traveled extensively through Tiruppur, India's knitwear hub. We visited countless factories, sifted through endless fabric swatches, and spoke to dozens of suppliers. The result? Total frustration. We couldn't find a single manufacturer willing to meet our rigid quality standards for premium heavyweight fits at the low minimum order quantities a startup needs.

  • The Mumbai Wild Goose Chase: Refusing to compromise, we tracked down a manufacturer in Mumbai whose website explicitly claimed they handled custom production for independent brands. We booked the travel, showed up at their doors, and were met with a massive roadblock. They flatly told us they only manufactured for their own in-house label now. The website? Outdated, leftover text from a past era of their business. It was a complete waste of precious time and capital.

Standing Alone

The strain of the journey took its toll in more ways than one. Midway through the grind, my original business partner made the tough decision to part ways to pursue other personal dreams. There was no bitterness, just the reality of how demanding this path is.

Suddenly, a two-man operation became a solo mission. Running a brand single-handedly while navigating tight financial constraints and managing pressing family responsibilities meant balancing on a razor's edge. Every financial decision was a massive risk, and every setback felt personal.

But when you are driven by pure, unadulterated passion for the craft, quitting isn't an option. Giving up on the vision of Belluga would have hurt more than the financial struggle ever could.

Today: The Process Begins

After a year of trial, error, isolation, and financial grit, the breakthrough finally came. We found the right hands to build these garments. We locked in the heavyweight structures, finalized the premium silhouettes, and perfected the made-to-order workflow.

Today, the process officially begins.
